This side event will be in the format of a panel presentation (a moderator and 5 presenters) and then open discussion to address the following: 1) Impacts of Climate Change on Indigenous fishing ecosystems and ways of life; 2) Indigenous Peoples' responses and solutions; 3) Relationship of Indigenous Peoples sustainable fishing and sustainable agriculture in the context of Just Transition; 4) impacts of imposed false solutions to climate change (i.e. "transition minerals mining" on Indigenous fisheries and water based food systems; and 5) strategies for including protections for Indigenous Peoples fisheries and fishing ways of life in the current agenda of the UNFCCC Sharm-el-Sheikh joint work programme of climate action on Agriculture and Food Security (decision 3/CP.27)
