Indigenous and local communities: what advocacy for their inclusion in climate action and sustainable development?

Several legal instruments recognize indigenous and local communities as subjects of rights and give special importance to their ancestral knowledge of ecology and ecosystem preservation. But in the application of these texts, there is still a long way to go. This event, supported by a network of indigenous women's organizations in the Sahel, is an opportunity for us to share experiences and ideas on the role of indigenous communities in climate action and the need to take them into account in adaptation and mitigation strategies to climate change. It is also a platform for awareness raising and advocacy towards the various decision makers.
