Indigenous Peoples with Disabilities lead a panel discussion on the ways climate change affects our communities, and how solutions to climate change must serve intersectionally marginalised populations. This event will commence with sharing of story, as speakers each share the experiences of their communities, highlighting how Indigneous People with Disabilities are disproportionately and uniquely impacted by climate change. Recognising that our communities are also closest to the solutions, a panel discussion will follow on considerations for Indigenous and disability-inclusive climate action. Themes will include Loss & Damage, Disaster Risk Reduction, and ACE. Following a groundbreaking panel discussion at COP 26 in Glasgow, which was the first ever side event on Indigenous & Disability issues at a COP, this session will provide a valuable opportunity to connect Indigenous and Disabled knowledge and methodologies in the service of climate action at COP 27.
