Host Organisation:

Indigenous Women Biodiversity Network and International Indigenous Youth Forum on Climate Change

Description:

This side event, co-organized by the Indigenous Women Biodiversity Network and International Indigenous Youth Forum on Climate Change, will highlight the vital role of Indigenous youth in advancing climate change mitigation and adaptation. Across communities, Indigenous youth are leading local actions to restore ecosystems, preserve and transmit traditional knowledge, and strengthen Indigenous Peoples resilience to climate impacts. The event will explore how and why their knowledge, innovations, and lived experiences contribute to achieving national and global climate goals, particularly within Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It will also address the importance of creating inclusive spaces for youth participation in policy development, implementation, and monitoring of climate actions. Through dialogue and knowledge-sharing, participants will identify practical ways to ensure that Indigenous youth are meaningfully included, supported, and resourced as key partners in shaping sustainable and equitable climate solutions
