This side event will reflect on the decade-long journey from COP 21 to COP 30, highlighting how Indigenous women and persons with disabilities have shaped narratives for climate justice through advocacy, leadership, and inclusive movement-building. The discussion will explore lessons learned, challenges, and the way forward to ensure disability- and gender-inclusive climate action.

Speakers

1. Graeme Reed – Former Chair, Indigenous Peoples’ Constituency
Expertise: Indigenous rights advocacy, representation in global climate negotiations, and promotion of Indigenous-led climate solutions.

2. Jana Merkelbach – Focal Person, Climate Action Network (CAN International)
Expertise: Global climate justice advocacy, civil society engagement in UNFCCC processes, and policy dialogue facilitation.

3. Nadia – European Disability Forum (EDF)
Expertise: Disability inclusion in EU and global climate policies, accessibility, and advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities.

4. Gorge Manique – Senior Program Officer, DRAF
Expertise: Disability inclusion, accessibility, and program implementation for persons with disabilities in development and climate contexts.

5. Manase Nututu – Chair, Indigenous Persons with Disabilities Global Network (IPWDGN)
