This event will outline Conservation International's ocean protection and climate change initiative that explores opportunities to invest in high quality blue carbon and nature-based solutions to combat climate change in Aotearoa and the Pacific. The event will also showcase an new film, ‘Moana Rising’, and outline Conservation International Aotearoa's goal to raise US$100mn to support blue carbon investment opportunities between indigenous peoples with governments, financial institutions, philanthropic organisations and donors by 2030. In the Pacific, the ocean does not divide the islands, it unites them. Dating back centuries, Pacific peoples have a deep connection to the ocean, or Moana, and have recognised the relationship of a healthy ocean with a healthy society. However, the ocean is warming and rising, and faces unprecedented threats posing challenges to the Pacific way of life.
