Fusing the Nature and Culture Divide: Novel Approaches to Inclusive Conservation in Central Africa

Explanation and discussion of Project Bengo; a new way of thinking about conservation. Inclusive conservation simultaneously protects both nature and culture, whereby humans and the environment are safeguarded as one. This collaborative project between conservationists, indigenous peoples and local communities marks a new approach to conservation practices and ecological management in the Congo Basin. During this side event, the Project Bengo website ‘Strengthening Indigenous Rights in the Congo Basin’ will be screened.
